Taking care of your health is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Baylor College of Medicine experts have plenty of tips to help you stay healthy. This month’s Health Hint offers a new way to deal with sinus infections.
Many people suffer from sinus infections this time of year. But a product that people have been using forever may offer relief. Baby shampoo has been shown to lessen symptoms and ward off sinus infections when used as an irrigation rinse. It cleanses the naval cavity with a surfactant, breaking down biofilms, or oily layers that bad bacteria create to protect itself from irrigation. This irrigation should be a half teaspoon of shampoo in 8 ounces of saline. Consult a doctor for further instructions before trying the irrigation at home.”
