Taking care of your health is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Baylor College of Medicine experts have plenty of tips to help you stay healthy. This month’s Health Hint offers some advice on proper cosmetic use to prevent infection.
Not storing makeup properly and using out-of-date cosmetics can result in infection, including staph infection. After buying cosmetics, keep the products properly sealed when not in use to protect against airborne germs. Mascara should be switched out at least every three months, while other cosmetic products should be kept for no longer than six to 12 months. The older a product is, the more time bacteria has to grow in it.”
