Health Hint

Taking care of your health is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Baylor College of Medicine experts have plenty of tips to help you stay healthy. This month’s Health Hint offers some advice on how to manage the temptation of fried treats and other goodies at Houston’s biggest annual event – the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

A lot of people think that it’s OK to indulge in these treats because it only happens once in a while, but think about how often you say that – Valentine’s Day, Fat Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day. Once in a while excuses end up being about one-third of a year. I suggest eating a healthy meal ahead of time or looking for a grilled meat sandwich at the rodeo since fruits and vegetables are not easy to find. Although treats are a part of a healthy diet, consider how often these treats creep into your routine.”
