Two budding entrepreneurs at Baylor may have developed the next big advancement in cancer healthcare. Ravi Pathak and Hristijan Risteski, both members of Dr. Andrew Sikora’s lab in the department of otolaryngology, were among the top 10 finalists out of nearly 750 applicants at OneStart, the world’s largest life sciences and healthcare startup accelerator competition.
The Baylor College of Medicine Faculty Senate welcomed 12 new and 19 returning senators at its June 9 meeting. The senators also voted to re-elect two officers: Dr. Hugo Bellen as basic sciences representative and Dr. Jeffrey Starke as clinical sciences representative.
Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers has had a profound effect on the lives of children in Houston and throughout the country through its exceptional patient care and cutting-edge research. The Center, a joint program of Baylor and Texas Children’s Hospital, also is extending its reach far beyond our borders.
Baylor medical students have a history of strong finishes at the international Simlympics competition, and this year’s team continued the tradition. For the five medical students on the team, participation in Simlympics offers more than the chance to win a trophy – it’s an important component of their medical education.
