Name: Jonnita (J) Pleasant

Title: Director of Patient Access

Department: Patient Business Services Call Center

How long have you been at BCM? I’ve been here since 2007. Wow, it will be 10 years in November!

What’s your favorite thing about working at BCM? There are two parts of this job that drive me daily. The first is when we make a noticeable difference in our patients’ lives, like when I walk by one of my employees and I hear them laughing on the phone with a patient or providing them comfort that everything is going to work out – it warms my heart. The second part of my job that brings me joy is when one of my employees grows and advances within Baylor.

Where were you born? I was born and raised in Chicago.

What is your favorite kind of food? I love seafood!

What is your favorite restaurant in Houston, and at that restaurant your favorite dish? Houston has some of the best restaurants in the world, but if I have to pick one I pick Eddie V’s.

What’s on your music playlist? Jazz and gospel – from Gregory Porter, who is one of my favorite jazz artists, to Donnie Mc Klurkin, one of my favorite gospel singers.

What is your dream vacation? I would love to travel to Greece.
