The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the lives of people everywhere, especially when it comes to educating school-aged children. But faculty and staff in Baylor’s Department of Molecular and Human Genetics have found a fun way to engage kids – and adults – while they are at home due to social distancing – online story time!
There has been an emphasis on taking care of one’s physical health during these challenging times, but caring for one’s mental health cannot be ignored. Whether it’s the stress of working from home or homeschooling, the isolation of social distancing or the fear of you or a loved one contracting COVID-19, each concern is valid.
Practicing yoga strengthens the body and mind and has gained popularity worldwide. But yoga is not a recent practice or fad. The philosophy originated 5,000 to 10,000 years ago in Rishikesh, India. Ed Fink, administrator for anesthesiology at Baylor, dwells on his ashram experience and the importance of yoga to maintain a positive mentality.
