In this role, Alex Alanis coordinates health education events, organizes volunteer opportunities for employees and faculty to put their Volunteer Time Off benefit to good use and oversees the Grocery Resource At Baylor (GRAB), Baylor’s student food pantry.
Baylor College of Medicine has hosted blood drives for Gulf Coast Blood since at least July 2000. Since then, 25,800 blood units have been donated on the College’s main campus, helping more than 7,500 patients.
As the year winds down, and before the work of 2026 comes alive, there’s a window of time where Baylor College of Medicine’s faculty, staff and students can join together and celebrate the year’s successes.
Since 2022, the need for the GRAB has only grown, and one thing has become apparent – it takes a village to organize and run the food pantry.
For a decade, the Center for Educational Outreach at Baylor College of Medicine has partnered with Hess Toy Truck to spark curiosity and creativity in elementary and middle school-age students through free, hands-on STEM learning guides.
