History was made 50 years ago at Baylor College of Medicine when its first basic science department was founded when Dr. Bert O’Malley left Vanderbilt University in snowy Tennessee to establish the Department of Cell Biology.
Dr. Christian Cable looked at the first Open House attendees in the history of Baylor College of Medicine’s School of Medicine Temple Regional Campus, and he smiled.
As the academic year roars to life, Baylor College of Medicine’s School of Health Professions is now led by Dr. Todd A. Reinhart, who started his new role as dean in July. He will oversee the School’s four programs: Physician Assistant, Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia, Orthotics and Prosthetics and Genetic Counseling.
In early August, an orientation was held to welcome Baylor College of Medicine’s newly elected 2025 Term Faculty Senators. The Faculty Senate represents the interests of Baylor faculty across all departments, centers, affiliates and schools.
The Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery recently was renamed the David J. Sugarbaker Division in Thoracic Surgery, making it the first named division in the department.
