Earlier this month, medical students participated in Matthew Carter Service Day by sorting medical supplies at Project C.U.R.E., doing landscaping at Hermann Park and volunteering at the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry.

“Being an SLP co-chair has been one of my favorite aspects of medical school so far. Through this role, I work with my co-chair to establish volunteer sites in Temple that address a social determinant of health.”
“This program is unique because we collaborate with community members and provide them with lasting skills, much like how physicians get to educate and incorporate patients into the care plan. The program has helped me understand that listening to patients and meeting them where they are helps create plans that they can adhere to.”
In recognition of their volunteer service, the Office of Temple Mayor Tim Davis issued a proclamation in appreciation of first- and second-year Baylor Temple students.
