On Aug. 15, Kylan Naidoo donned his white coat, marking the first milestone of medical school. It was the culmination of a long journey to Baylor College of Medicine that started back in sixth grade when he enrolled at Baylor College of Medicine Academy at James D. Ryan Middle School.
Baylor College of Medicine is committed to developing the next generation of medical and science professionals through its partnerships with local and state secondary schools. Each year, the College reinforces this dedication by bringing Houston area magnet school students to campus to experience what it’s like to train or work in the health professions.
A little over 10 years ago, Baylor College of Medicine and Houston Independent School District partnered to turn a fledgling, but historic, Third Ward middle school into a health and biomedical sciences magnet school.
The next generation of scientists and medical professionals will be ready to tackle the problems of tomorrow thanks to Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Educational Outreach 2022 Camp Med and Eagle Camp.
The Baylor College of Medicine Biotech Academy at Rusk celebrated its first graduating class to complete the three-year health science program in a ceremony held on May 29 at the TMC Innovation Institute. Baylor faculty and Rusk staff presented encouraging words and certificates of achievement to the 126 students moving forward into high school.
