Overnight Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

This recipe is one of the breakfast recipes my daughter-in-law Jennifer grew up having on Christmas morning.

Directions

  • Combine butter and sugar; cream until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and sour cream, mixing well.
  • Combine the next 5 ingredients; add to batter and mix well.
  • Pour batter into a greased and floured 9-by-13 baking pan.
  • Combine brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon; mix well and sprinkle evenly over batter.
  • Cover and chill overnight.
  • Uncover and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
