Tucked away in a corner office on the second floor of the Alkek Building in room 205 is Baylor’s new ombuds, Laurel Hyle. It’s actually a perfect location, offering privacy – one of the foundations of the new office at the College – yet with an open-door policy.
New faculty members had a chance to pick up some good advice from veteran academics at the semiannual New Faculty Orientation recently hosted by the Provost’s Office.
As the new assistant dean for evaluation, assessment and research in Baylor’s School of Medicine, Dr. Joel Purkiss’ role will be to work with faculty, students, staff and leadership to evaluate the educational programs in the School to understand their effectiveness and identify what can be done for improvement.
The Career Development Center at Baylor College of Medicine opened its doors to students in January 2016. Since its opening, the Center has been working hard to prepare students for job interviews and life after graduation.
Baylor College of Medicine medical students Weijie Lin, Kelsey Stewart, Sohini Brady and Elizabeth Cook have been selected as members of the 2016-2017 class of Albert Schweitzer Fellows from the Houston-Galveston Area.
