Name: Alejandro Briceño

Title: Senior Business Operations Associate

Department: Office of Research

How long have you been at BCM? 29 days (as of Oct. 18)

What’s your favorite thing about working at BCM? I enjoy how supportive everyone is, which makes getting to know people and processes a bit easier as a new employee.

How are you coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, and how has it impacted your job at BCM? The Office of Research is very supportive of my needs and provides flexibility, within reason. This flexibility has already been exercised so that I could take care of my family, which is of major importance to me.

Where were you born? New Mexico

What is your favorite kind of food? I enjoy anything with a spicy kick to it.

What is your favorite restaurant in Houston, and at that restaurant your favorite dish? As a transplant, my list is still small; however, I really enjoy House of Pies, for its family environment. My favorite dish is a slice of pumpkin pie.

What’s on your music playlist? Having three kiddos under the age of 3, my playlist gets dominated by the Trolls World Tour album, but I enjoy some Mateo Stoneman, J. Balvin, and Gatton & sxxnt and many, many more.

What is your dream vacation? While serving in the U.S. Army I was honored to live abroad in both Germany and Italy and travelled to many places. So, I would have to say my dream vacation would have to include heading back to Europe and getting lost in the Alps somewhere.

What have you binged watched recently? “Squid Games” – must watch!

Complete this sentence: Most people wouldn’t know that I…. am an Iraq War veteran and foster dad.

What are some of your personal hobbies? Lately it has been whatever my 3-year-old foster daughter tells me to do. When I do get me-time, I enjoy being out-and-about.

Last book you read or podcast you listened to? “The Inspirational Leader”

Last movie you saw? “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Any kids? Pets? Yes! Three foster kiddos and one dog (Corgi/golden retriever mix – they do exist!)

Favorite food on campus? To be determined.

Favorite BCM/Medical Center hangout? When I am at the office, I try to sit outside as much as possible. The view from Methodist looking through the trees at the Commons is nice. Especially when it is sunny outside.
